“Being Part of Something Special” – Sam and Marcalino, October 2012

Part of the reason why I love what I do is because I get the privilege of being part of something very special and personal in the lives of a couple.  This is the truth with my clients Sam and Marcalino (Marss), who were married October 7th, 2012.

Before I share with you photos and some background on the couple, I can’t help but offer my personal feelings on their marriage.  While the state of Pennsylvania does not legally recognize their union, I can honestly say that Sam and Marss are probably the most “in-love” couple I have ever worked with.  I was honored that they trusted me to help plan their special day, as it was my first experience working with a same-sex couple.  As I expected (and hope the state of Pennsylvania realizes very soon!), working with two grooms was no different than working with a Bride and Groom (other than maybe some title changes).  I affectionately referred to them as “My Grooms” throughout the planning process!  Sam and Marss’ wedding day was filled with nothing but love and support from their over 150 guests.

Sam and Marss were married at the Blair Mill Inn in Horsham.  My team had an amazing experience working with their staff, especially the Manager, Chris Kane.  It really does make the planning process and day-of run more smoothly when a Wedding Planner has a great working relationship with a venue and its coordinators.

Beautiful Wedding Party

Part of the success of the afternoon was being surrounded by talented wedding professionals, some sharing a personal connection with the Grooms.  The fall themed centerpieces were done by a close friend of Sam, who works in event planning and floral design, Mary Grace Quackenbush.

Sam and Marss really worked to add their own personal touches to their wedding day – probably the most important was the favors, which were mints from the American Cancer Society, honoring Sam’s father who passed away from Cancer.  They also decided to forgo the traditional guest book by instead hand-painting a ceramic plate in their wedding colors that all the guests could sign!

A Packed Dance floor All Night!

I can’t say enough how lucky I was to be part of the wedding planning process with Sam and Marss.   We worked together for over a year and I truly feel their wedding turned out to be a beautiful representation of their loving relationship and the fun and support they share with all their family and friends.  I wish “My Grooms” nothing but happiness and luck in the future!
