“Say Yes to The Place”- Katie’s Venue Search

Let’s talk wedding venues! Once the pure excitement of an engagement starts to settle in, one of the biggest decisions to be made is where the wedding is going to take place.  Brides and Grooms pick a venue for several different reasons. Maybe it has sentimental value, it may have the best bang for your buck, or possibly it is just the perfect setting to match your dream wedding vision. For me, my decision was based on a little mixture of all these things.

If you had talked to me even just over a year ago, I would never have thought I would be getting married at my small hometown in northern Pennsylvania. It just was not what I pictured. I always imagined a big church wedding followed by a glamorous outdoor reception with beautiful scenery. After moving to the greater Philadelphia area, I was excited knowing that once I did get engaged there would be so many amazing options to choose from (which there truly is!). However, once my fiancé and I started thinking about our own timeline and ideas, we decided that sharing our nuptials at my family’s church seemed perfect. My hometown is where I have shared so many memories with both my family and my future husband, so there is most definitely that sentimental value to it. My fiancé and I also knew that we did not want a long engagement, and with that our options were more limited. My parents have a beautiful home with a big backyard and considering there’s not a long waiting list, we could have the summer reception we wanted!  It does not hurt to also be able to save some money and since it is basically a blank canvas we get to create a beautiful space to make uniquely ours. The more we talked about it the more it made sense, and the event will truly be very characteristic of the two of us; fun; laid-back while still classy, and full of love.

With all that said, even though I am not getting married in the Philadelphia area, there are way too many beautiful venues here that I cannot pass up. Here are some of my favorites!

For the country rustic couple: Brandywine Manor House – Honey Brook, PA

This venue offers a picturesque setting for a wedding, with multiple ceremony and reception locations all located on 85 acres of beautiful scenery. There are several outdoor spaces which can be used, and both a gorgeous renovated barn and a tented ballroom, all of which would make anyone’s wedding appear as though it came straight off Pinterest!

For the Classic and Elegant Couple: Cairnwood Estates – Bryn Athyn, PA

I love this venue because it is so timeless. If I were to be married here I would feel like royalty for the day. Even just looking at pictures makes me feel like I’m stepping back in time. This space is way too gorgeous not to share!  (Diamonds and Details will be working with Cairnwood in May!)

For the Garden Lovers/DIY Couples: Terrain at Styers – Glenn Mills, PA

Terrain is the perfect location for those looking for a unique and magical wedding location. Not only do they have an amazing store filled with gorgeous outdoor garden finds and home décor, but their event spaces are to die for. With an outdoor Indian wedding temple and antique greenhouse your wedding will truly stand out. They also offer in-house floral design to add the perfect touches to your day.

For the City Slicker Couples: The Circa Centre Atrium at JG Domestic – Philadelphia, PA

Talk about a view! Can you imagine this at night, overlooking the city lights? This venue is very modern and super chic! In-house caterers offer delicious dining options and the space is large enough for up to 300 people. I love this option for couples who want to show off their city and add a definite wow factor to their big day!

What are some of your favorite venues in the area? We’d love to hear your input!!
